HighLevel Facebook connection expired: the three connections
By SHAJ Studio. Checked against HighLevel's help center and the Ad Manager, Social Planner and Integrations screens in October 2026.
The short answer
HighLevel (also called GoHighLevel or GHL) has three separate Facebook connections: Settings, then Integrations (lead forms and Messenger), Ad Manager (ads) and Social Planner (scheduled posts). Each one can expire on its own and each is reconnected on its own screen. Watchtower checks the Ad Manager and Social Planner connections in every sub-account each day and shows expired ones on the dashboard and in your next daily email; it does not check the lead form connection.
HighLevel has three Facebook connections
A HighLevel sub-account can be connected to Facebook in three separate places. Each one is its own connection, so each one can expire on its own.
- Settings, then Integrations. This is the Facebook card (Instagram has its own separate card), used for Facebook lead forms and Messenger.
- Ad Manager. This is the connection HighLevel uses to publish and update Facebook ads.
- Social Planner. This is the connection HighLevel uses to publish scheduled posts to your social accounts.
In our own test sub-account in October 2026, the same Facebook Page showed Connected in Social Planner while Ad Manager said the Facebook integration had expired and the Integrations card showed Fix Issue.
What breaks when each one expires
- Settings, then Integrations. HighLevel's help article says an expired token shows a reconnect prompt. On the card, a broken connection shows a red warning mark and a Fix Issue button.
- Ad Manager. Ad Manager can't publish or update Facebook ads for the sub-account until the connection is reconnected. A banner at the top of every Ad Manager page says the integration has expired.
- Social Planner. Scheduled posts through the connection may not publish until it is reconnected. Social Planner may also email the connected user directly.
Neither HighLevel's article nor Watchtower's checks say why a particular connection expired. The fix is to reconnect it.
How to reconnect each one
Settings, then Integrations
- In the sub-account, open Settings, then Integrations.
- Find the Facebook card. A broken connection shows a red warning mark and a Fix Issue button.
- Reconnect with a Facebook account that is an Admin of the Facebook Page and of its Business Manager.
- Approve all the permissions, especially leads and page data.
Ad Manager
- In the sub-account, open Marketing, then the Ad Manager tab.
- Open Settings, then Platform settings, then Meta, then Ad account.
- When the Facebook connection has expired, use the Reconnect now link in the banner at the top of any Ad Manager page. The connected ad accounts are listed on this Ad account screen.
Social Planner
- In the sub-account, open Marketing, then the Social Planner tab.
- Open Settings, then Social accounts.
- Open the Expired filter, then reconnect the account from that list.
Reconnect each one on its own screen.
Check all three by hand
- Settings, then Integrations: open the Facebook card and look for a red warning mark and a Fix Issue button.
- Ad Manager: open any Ad Manager page and look for the banner at the top: "Your facebook integration has expired, reconnect your account to avoid any disruptions in campaign management and publishing." It has a Reconnect now link.
- Social Planner: open Settings, then Social accounts. Use the Expired filter. You can also read the Status and Validity columns. A healthy account shows Status Connected. Validity shows the days left, for example 54 days.
- Repeat for every sub-account that uses Facebook.
By hand this is three screens in every sub-account.
What Watchtower checks
Watchtower checks two of the three connections in every sub-account each day.
- Ad Manager. It asks HighLevel whether the Facebook connection in Ad Manager has expired. If HighLevel reports it expired, Watchtower raises a Warning.
- Social Planner. It reads every Social Planner connection in the sub-account. For each one that HighLevel marks expired, on any platform, Watchtower raises a Critical finding.
Both checks run once a day. A connection that expires during the day appears in the next morning's email.
What it does not check. Watchtower does not check the Settings, then Integrations connection, the one used for lead forms and Messenger. A clean result for Ad Manager and Social Planner says nothing about lead forms or Messenger. Watchtower only knows what HighLevel reports about each connection.
Watchtower is read-only: it never reconnects anything or changes a client account. See what the daily email looks like in the sample digest. Or read how Watchtower works.
See it on invented data
The sample shows the daily email and the dashboard for an invented agency. Every name and number is invented.
Questions
How many Facebook connections does a HighLevel sub-account have?
Three separate ones: Settings, then Integrations (the Facebook card, for lead forms and Messenger), Ad Manager (for ads) and Social Planner (for scheduled posts). Each one can expire on its own.
What does HighLevel show when a Facebook connection is broken?
In Settings, then Integrations, the Facebook card shows a red warning mark and a Fix Issue button. HighLevel's help article says an expired token shows a reconnect prompt. In Ad Manager, a banner at the top of every page says the Facebook integration has expired. In Social Planner, the Expired filter in Settings, then Social accounts lists the expired accounts.
Who can reconnect the Facebook connection in Settings, then Integrations?
According to HighLevel's help article, the person connecting must be an Admin of the Facebook Page and of its Business Manager. They must approve all the permissions, especially leads and page data.
Does Watchtower check my Facebook lead form connection?
No. Watchtower does not check the Settings, then Integrations connection, the one used for lead forms and Messenger. A clean result for Ad Manager and Social Planner says nothing about lead forms or Messenger.
How often does Watchtower check the Facebook connections?
Once a day. A connection that expires during the day appears in the next morning's email.
Does Watchtower reconnect Facebook for me?
No. Watchtower is read-only. It reports expired connections and never edits, creates or deletes anything in a sub-account.
